*Professional
photographer Bill Lea says for years he would pick a subject and
shoot it in the best possible light. Then, one day he made a change.
He went out searching for good lighting and picked a subject in
that light. That transformed his photography, and he has been
chasing the light ever since. Visit Bills extraordinary,
exceptional photography at www.BillLea.com.

After
a business lunch in Newberry this past June, I struck out cross-country
towards Greenwood, scouting for something to shoot perhaps
some hay rolls in a field. I drove through the small town of Silverstreet
heading west on Hwy 34. A couple miles out, this guy in the orange
shirt passed by going in the opposite direction on the bicycle.
He looked like he had a destination in mind. I hadnt seen
one hay roll yet or anything else worth stopping for. Something
about this guy and the bike caught my attention. I turned around
and caught up with him. His name was Larry. Larry, I do some
photography and Im looking for hay rolls or anything to shoot,
but I dont see a thing out here except you!
You want to shoot me? he exclaimed.
Why not? I said, and we set up a quick one at the edge
of this golden field. Three frames this last one with a touch
of fill flash, and that was that. Larry mounted up and headed on
to work. I resumed the drive toward Greenwood. Later that evening,
I thought about what a nice day it had been.
