Old houses can have such character. These structures are a favorite subject to photograph. The problem is, when I find one, if I don’t shoot it then, it may not be there tomorrow.

Giving a title to a photograph can be a challenge — sometimes fun. We teamed up with a friend’s local high school art classes and made a contest out of naming this image of the old bus.

Janie and I were making our way through this small town in West Virginia when, as we crossed a bridge, this street scene with the shiny tin roofs caught my eye. I actually set the tripod up on the bridge and waited until a UPS truck drove to the right and out of the frame before snapping the shutter.

The vintage car pushes the photo “back in time,” even though it was shot in the summer of 2005.
